Bark & Co. Opens Pop-Up Store

Bark & Co (New York), the company behind the subscription retail product BarkBox, has opened a pop-up shop in lower Manhattan at 3 Howard Street in New York’s SoHo neighborhood.

Designed specifically to let dogs be the shoppers, BarkShop Live allows canines to play with unpackaged toys in an open space, free from shelves and packaged toys found at traditional pet stores, according to a press release.

Each dog is outfitted with a high-tech vest that communicates with electronic tags in the toys in order to collect data on which items the dog liked, disliked or loved, which is then sent to an app on the dog owner’s smartphone. Owners can then tap to puchase their dog’s favorite toy and have it shipped directly to their home.

The “pup-up” shop will be open until June 12.
