Best Foot Forward

NexCen Brands Inc. (New York), parent company of The Athlete’s Foot, has entered into an agreement to manufacture and distribute its new TAF branded apparel line.

Li & Fung USA, a subsidiary of Li & Fung Trading, Ltd. (Kowloon, Hong Kong), is an international sourcing, distribution and retailing company. It will manage the supply chain from the development stage through distribution. Categories of product in the line include: shirts, running bras, shorts, pants and tights, sweat suits, outerwear and accessories.

The first two collections in the TAF line are performance athletic attire, known as taftec, and Track & Field, a “classic athletic collection that takes inspiration from retro and collegiate sport styles.” taftec will be available in stores during the first quarter of 2008 and Track & Field shortly thereafter.

“NexCen Brands is committed to building relationships with world-class partners in order to build value for our portfolio of brands,” said NexCen president and ceo Robert D’Loren. “Li & Fung offers us a comprehensive solution to our needs — from product design through production.”

NexCen Brands, which also owns the Bill Blass apparel brand and the Maggie Moos and Marble Slab ice cream chains, acquired The Athlete’s Foot in 2006.
