Bigger in Boston

Shawmut Design and Construction, the Boston-based builder and construction manager, announces its completion of the Louis Vuitton expansion at Copley Place (Boston). The existing 3,655 square foot space tripled in size with the expansion, and allowed the high-end luggage and leather goods retailer to remain open during construction.

Louis Vuitton wanted to maintain its original high-profile location within the shopping center, so Shawmut first built out the adjacent space formerly occupied by Joan and David, to allow for this. The retailer operated from the neighboring position while its existing store was renovated. Upon completion, the wall separating the two finished spaces was removed, and the new, improved Louis Vuitton opened for business last month.

Shawmut Design and Construction specializes in difficult and demanding projects in academic, corporate, retail, restaurant and healthcare. Shawmut recently finished work on the Boston location of Polo Ralph Lauren, and has worked with such clients as Chanel, Tiffany's, Nike and FAO Schwarz.
