Bloomingdale’s Employees Seek Commission for Online Sales

Employees at Bloomingdale’s (New York) are in negotiations to get commission on online sales as part of an “unprecedented labor despute,” reports CBS MoneyWatch.

Most of the company’s store employees earn only commission and, consequently, have been affected by customers who come to the store to see or try on the products but then decide to finish the sale online. Some workers have seen their paychecks drop by about 20 percent, part of which they believe to be attributed to this issue.

The retailer employs about 2000 workers at its flagship store and corporate headquarters in New York. The negotiations are part of the contract that would go into effect next month.
