City Sports Is Back Online for Business

City Sports (Boston) is back in business after filing for bankruptcy and closing more than two dozen stores in 2015. The company is again selling merchandise on its website and has plans to open stores in large cities including Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

The brand is under new leadership, having been purchased by brothers Brent and Blake Sonnek-Schmelz last year. They paid $400,000 for the City Sports brand name, logo and customer list at a bankruptcy auction.

According to Boston Business Journal, the company said,  "Our focus on serving the urban athlete remains as strong as it was in 1983 when two friends opened a small store on Massachusetts Ave.”
