Lord & Taylor has had a tumultuous decade. In 2003, with Jane Elfers at the helm, 32 stores were shuttered. The plan? To refocus on the company’s high-end, East Coast clientele. In 2005, the chain’s parent, May Department Stores Co., merged with Federated Department Stores. It was sold the next year to its current owner, NRDC Equity Partners. (The firm also acquired Hudson’s Bay Co. in 2008.)
The past few years have seen a wave of Lord & Taylor renovations and openings, including such sunny spots as Mizner Park in Boca Raton, Fla. – a far cry from the chilly Northeast. Peruse this page for a quick peek into this department store’s latest looks.
