Chico’s FAS Inc. (Fort Myers, Fla.) has reported a 28 percent increase in sales for the four-week period ended Nov. 27, 2004. Same-store sales for the month increased 8.6 percent.
Net sales for the retailer’s third quarter ended Oct. 30, 2004, increased 28.1 percent, net income rose 38.6 percent and same-store sales increased 6.1 percent.
For the nine months ended October 30, net sales are up 41.3 percent, net income has risen 45.1 percent and same-store sales have jumped 13 percent.
“We are extremely pleased with our third quarter results which show strong year-over-year growth in spite of the hurricanes that we experienced during this time frame,” said president and ceo Scott Edmonds. “Both the Chico’s and White House | Black Market brands saw strong increases in the number of transactions and both brands also saw improvement in merchandise margins for the quarter. . . We [also] completed the launch of our intimate apparel concept test stores, ‘Soma by Chico’s,’ during the third quarter, and we continue to remain excited about this opportunity.”
