Circuit City Names New Head of Stores

Circuit City Stores Inc. (Richmond, Va.) has named George D. Clark, Jr. president, Circuit City — retail stores, among a number of other executive appointments.

The consumer electronics retailer also named Douglas Moore senior vp and chief merchandising officer and Ronald Cuthbertson senior vp, supply chain and inventory management.

Clark joined Circuit City in 1983 and was promoted to store manager in 1987, district manager in 1992 and regional vp in 1993. He was named assistant vp in 1995, vp and central division president in 1997, Eastern division president in 2002 and senior vp in 2003. Most recently, he was general merchandise manager for technology in 2004.

“As president of Circuit City retail stores, Danny Clark will be responsible for all domestic superstore operations and product services,” said company president Phil Schoonover. “His deep background in operating stores combined with his recent experience in merchandising provides the company with better coordination between store operations and merchandising as we continue to improve the shopping experience.”

The three executives will all report to Schoonover.
