Circuit City Retirement

Richard Birnbaum, an operations executive at Circuit City Stores, Inc. (Richmond, Va.) for more than 15 years, announced plans to retire next year.

Birnbaum, who joined Circuit City in 1972 as a part-time sales counselor in Washington, D.C., rose through the ranks to become executive vp of operations in 1994.
