Fresh Talent

This past April, VMSD editors attended The University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning’s (DAAP) annual DAAPworks open-house event, which included presentations from the college’s senior students. Their final retail interior design projects were on display, complete with proof-of-concept research, graphic mockups, as well as 3-D models. Among the projects, some of this year’s standouts focused on designs for non-profit organizations, like one aimed to provide an unintimidating space for women undergoing breast cancer treatment; another which used virtual reality technology as an option to preview their store design; and a few which conceptualized refreshing, new independent retail in Cincinnati’s up-and-coming Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.
