Gap Inc. Heading to South America

Gap Inc. (San Francisco) signed an agreement with Komax (Santiago, Chile) to open at least 25 stores in South America by 2016, as the company continues to push expansion of its global franchise, says Carlos Alberto Cartoni, co-owner of Gap’s Chilean franchise partner.

As part of the franchise agreement, Komax will install six Gap and three Banana Republic locations throughout Chile by 2013. The first Gap flagship – an 8600-square-foot store in Santiago – is expected to open by November.

Additional South American stores are planned for Peru over the next few years.
