MANAGEMENT CHANGES
Supervalu Inc. (Minneapolis) has tapped Janel Haugarth as its new president of independent business and business optimization. She has 35 years of experience and will replace the company’s current president, Leon Bergmann, immediately.

Tiffany & Co. (New York) executive vps Beth Canavan and Frederic Cumenal will see their responsibilities shift this year. Cumenal’s role will expand to include responsibility for sales worldwide. Canavan, who currently heads the Americas region, will expand her responsibilities as a direct report to Cumenal.

MaxLite (West Caldwell, N.J.) has named Francisco Garza its product marketing manager. Garza brings more than 20 years of experience to his new role, and has a master’s degree in lighting science from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

STORE OPENINGS
Jill Alexander Designs (Santa Cruz, Calif.) will open its first retail location at the Village at Gulfstream Park in Aventura, Fla., with a 2500-square-foot store. The company creates clothing for women size 12 and up.

Target Corp. (Minneapolis) is planning a new store in Staten Island, N.Y. The 150,000-square-foot venue will open in July 2013 and is one of eight stores set to open that year.

BUSINESS BRIEFS
Design firm GH+A (Montreal) won four awards from the ICSC Canadian Shopping Center Awards program, including two gold awards and two silver awards for projects such as the Eaton Centre, a mall and office space in Toronto. The ICSC is a global trade association for the shopping center industry.

Nualight (Cork, Ireland) was listed in the Global Cleantech 100, a ranking of companies likely to make a significant market impact. The list is compiled by the Cleantech Group, which studies clean technology companies around the world.
