Hitting Houston

Fashion designer Sigrid Olsen is set to open her first store in Texas on May 13. Olsen brings her nature-inspired, artful clothing line of fashionable, functional sportswear and resortwear to the women of Houston with the opening of her store at The Galleria, a premier shopping and tourist destination.

“My goal is to create an uplifting experience for the consumer in an environment that goes beyond shopping and is designed for meeting her lifestyle needs,” says Olsen.

Showcasing Olsen's sportswear line in a relaxed, comfortable shopping environment, the store brings to life the company motto of “vision/art/clothing/life” by the artistry and beauty of the space and its contents. Honey stained gauged oak, raw black metal, and woven sisal carpets are paired with antique items, drawing on Olsen's inspiration from nature and her intent on bringing beauty into everyday life.

For Spring and Summer 2004, Sigrid presents a line that celebrates the optimism of the season and the breath of fresh air it brings. Strong hues, romantic fabrics, and inspiring prints are combined in silhouettes that are classic and wearable, yet up-to-the-moment. Painted floral coats, sweet party dresses, and signature print pieces are the standouts of the season.

An artist by trade, Olsen launched her sportswear line 19 years ago and has seen it grow from casual resort wear to a lifestyle collection of year-round sportswear. In addition to the store in Houston, there are 12 Sigrid Olsen retail stores nationwide, including locations in Boston, Westchester, N.Y., Troy, Mich., and Boca Raton, Fla.
