H&M's Growing on US

Hennes & Mauritz (Sweden-based apparel retailer) plans to open a Boston store in 2002. The 35,000-square-foot space will be located at 350 Washington Street in the Downtown Crossing shopping area.

H&M first opened shop in the U.S. in March, and its Manhattan Fifth Avenue location has proven particularly successful. The profitability of the U.S. stores has initiated further expansion, including a new, three-level, 40,000-square-foot store due to appear on New York's 34th Street later this month.
