Houston, We Have a Nordstrom

Nordstrom Inc. (Seattle) opened its 89th full-line store at The Galleria in Houston. It's the retailer's first Houston store.

The three-level store offers tens of thousands of pairs of shoes; 1800 men's dress shirts in 63 different sizes; 2000 neckties; 12,000 tubes of lipstick and lip gloss and 3500 handbags. The new store also offers complimentary personal shopping, valet and concierge services, a Cafe Bistro, an espresso bar, in-store alteration and tailor shops and a shoeshine stand.

The retailer celebrated the store-opening with a gala benefit for The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, including a runway fashion show of American and European designer collections staged in a tent adjacent to the store. The event was expected to raise $300,000.
