IKEA Introduces Online Option for U.K. Customers

IKEA (Leiden, Netherlands) announced that it is testing a new concept in the U.K. to provide its products to customers. The company will be offering a “click and collect” program that will allow customers to place online orders and pick them up in various locations where traditional IKEA stores are not located.

According to Wall Street Journal, the program has appeal in the U.K. because the company operates 18 stores throughout the country, which can be far distances for some customers. This concept provides accessibility and offers customers additional options if they aren’t able to travel to a traditional store.

The first collection point will be in the city of Norwich and is slated to open this fall. At the collection point, customers will also be able to talk to experts about larger purchases (such as designing a kitchen), view additional products, shop from a smaller selection of IKEA products, and enjoy an in-house café.
