If you've been waiting to purchase a London taxi or a Balinese hut, the wait is over. Neiman Marcus has unveiled the 160-page 2002 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book at a Dallas art gallery.
It is the 76th edition of the annual holiday tradition, first published in 1926 as a 16-page booklet.
“The 2002 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, being mailed out today, marks the start of the holiday season for millions when it arrives in homes,” said Karen Katz, president and ceo of Neiman Marcus Direct.
Among this year's features are: “his” and “her” personalized action figures ($7500 each); a Limited Edition 2004 Cadillac XLR ($85,000); a set of 10 Andy Warhol photographs of athletes such as Muhammad Ali, Chris Evert, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Pele, Jack Nicklaus, Rod Gilbert, O.J. Simpson, Tom Seaver, Dorothy Hamill and Willie Shoemaker ($3 million); a Burberry London taxi ($58,900); a Balinese hut designed by jewelry and decorative art designer John Hardy ($15,000); a 29-foot Hinckley T29 R powerboat ($258,500); a Johnnie Walker Blue Label discovery excursion to Scotland for a distillery tour, honorary membership at Gleneagles Golf Club and gourmet dinner ($160,000); a $550,000 diamond collar; and a $6100 mobile phone.
There's also a set of five cashmere sweaters, angora scarf, giant hand-blown brandy snifter and ruby and diamond ball ring, designed by Stanley Marcus to resemble a layered pousse-cafe after-dinner drink. The complete set is $11,050 ($1000 without the ring). It's in honor of “Mr. Stanley,” who died in January.
