Latinx-Owned Fashion Brand Opens First Physical Store

Wray (New York), a sustainable luxury fashion brand, officially announced the debut of its first brick-and-mortar store. The locale, which soft opened a couple of months ago, is on the ground floor of an apartment building at 38 Orchard St. in New York’s Chinatown.

“As the child of Mexican immigrants, I’ve always felt a little bit different compared to my peers,” says founder and CEO Wray Serna. “That feeling of wanting to make something that made everyone feel special, yet safe, is why I built Wray. Our mission is to make fashion accessible for everyone of all sizes.”

Serna says her brand is also continuing to raise its first round of outside funding. Wray, which she describes as on-trend and ethically sourced, has scaled from $200,000 in revenue per year to $3 million in the past three years.

Wray is now raising funds from investors as it expands into new categories, including jewelry and home goods. Previous investors and advisors include the founder of ModCloth, the CFO of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), the CRO at Alexis Bittar and others.

Serna, who founded her fashion brand in 2015, is the former Co-Founder and Chief Design Officer of Cloth, a fashion-tech company and app.
