Sports retailer Lids (Indianapolis) has unveiled a new retail concept, Lids Hat Drop, in Queens, New York. The store at 168-05 Jamaica Ave., is a bricks-and-mortar iteration of the brand’s LidsHatDrop.com platform that launched earlier this year.
Like its online counterpart, the Lids Hat Drop concept will offer exclusive and limited-edition releases, including notable athlete and celebrity collaborations that pay tribute to the Jamaica, Queens neighborhood. The store will also work with designers and influencers to build new collections.
Shoppers at the Lids Hat Drop outpost will have first dibs on exclusive hat drops beginning at 11 a.m. EST each Friday, before the collection becomes available on the ecommerce platform an hour later.
“Jamaica, Queens is known by headwear enthusiasts as the hat mecca of the U.S., so the location allows Lids to lean into hat culture while continuing to drive trends through our exclusive releases,” Lids President Britten Maughan said in a news release. “We’ve seen huge success with LidsHatDrop.com but Lids is a bricks-and-mortar retailer at its core, and this concept is yet another step in our strategy to lead the conversation and become even more engrained in the hat community.”
Overall, Lids operates more than 1500 stores throughout North America, Europe and Australia.
