Liz Claiborne Names CEO for Mexx Canada

Liz Claiborne Inc. (New York) has appointed Lloyd Perlmutter as ceo of its Mexx Canada division. Perlmutter will report to Thomas Grote, ceo of Mexx Europe.

“Lloyd has extensive experience within the retail and apparel markets in Canada,” says William McComb, ceo, Liz Claiborne Inc. “He has had great success in growing brands, especially through his tenure at Gap Inc., where his achievements included launching Old Navy into Canada, improving Banana Republic's gross margin in the region and doubling the Gap brand's marketshare in Canada within a seven year period, to name a few.”

Perlmutter joins Mexx Canada from Veritas Investments Inc., which he founded more than 15 years ago to consult with organizations on growth strategies, business opportunities and leadership disciplines. His career also includes posts with Clothing for Modern Times, a private branded company with multiple concepts in the U.S. and Canada and Indigo Books and Music Inc., where he was executive vp, customer store experience and operations. From 1996 to 2003, he served as president of Gap Inc.’s Canada division.
