Lord & Taylor Out, Filene's In

The May Department Stores Co. (St. Louis) announced it will expand its Filene's store at the Shoppes at Buckland Hills (St. Louis) into the space currently occupied by Lord & Taylor.

The Lord & Taylor store, one of 32 the department store organization announced it would shut, s expected to close Nov. 15, 2003.

Construction and remodeling will begin following the close, and are expected to be completed in 2004. Remodeling of the current Filene's store should be completed by spring 2005. When completed, the two Filene's stores will total 250,000 square feet.

The Filene's/Kaufmann's division of The May Department Stores Co. operates 100 stores in 10 states. It is the largest of May's department store divisions.
