Macy’s Off-Price Store Expansion

Macy’s (Cincinnati, Ohio) has announced it will open additional stores in its off-price chain of stores, Macy’s Backstage, which are slated to open this fall. The company has added two additional store locations to its roster of openings, bringing the total up to six stores.

The stores will each be about 30,000 square feet with free Wi-Fi and large fitting rooms. One location will test offering a café. All current locations will be in and around New York, with the newest ones situated in the Bronx at Fordham Place and in West Orange, N.J., at the Essex Green Shopping Center. An existing Macy’s store will be converted for the Essex Green location.

The company is planning additional openings for the off-price chain for 2016 and intends to hone the format with these first stores.
