Macy’s Selects Abu Dhabi Location

Macy’s Inc. (Cincinnati), which announced plans to open a store in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, has released more details about its plans to open its first store in that booming Middle Eastern region. Macy’s will open a 205,000-square-foot, four-level store at Al Maryah Central, a large regional shopping project currently under development on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi. According to Women’s Wear Daily, a 230,000-square-foot Bloomingdale’s will also be part of the Al Maryah complex. The location will be Bloomingdale’s second in the region. The first opened in Dubai in 2010.

Both locations will open in 2018 and will be operated under a license owned by the Al Tayer Group (Dubai), which also holds the license for the Bloomingdale’s in Dubai.
