Electronic Installations Prominent at New Whole Foods

Whole Foods (Austin, Texas) is experimenting with video installations at its new flagship store in Alpharetta, Ga. A week after launching its first national ad campaign, the installations promote Whole Foods’ message of sustainability.

The store’s café features a series of six digital screens that run, among other things, an Instagram feed showing produce still growing in the fields of local farms that supply the store, according to AdWeek. Touchscreens are built into display cases for specialty items including beer, wine and cheese. Finally, customers can pose before a digital mirror, which in turn produces recommendations for health products such as vitamins.

Whole Foods, analysts say, is attempting to stay ahead in the organic market as more mainstream grocers expand their sustainable selections.
