Though last year’s event was virtual due to the pandemic, department store Macy’s has announced that the public will be allowed to watch its venerable Thanksgiving Day parade work its way through Manhattan in person this year, according to NPR.
“We are thrilled to welcome back in its full form the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a news release. He said he looks forward to “welcoming back Parade watchers to experience it safely, live and in person this November.”
In its 95th year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade will feature live musical performances in addition to decorated floats, marching bands and the iconic floating balloon characters. All volunteers and staff are required to be vaccinated and will also wear face coverings.
