Mail Call

United Parcel Service (Atlanta) has announced it will change the name of its 3300 Mail Boxes Etc. franchises across the country, to The UPS Store. UPS acquired San Diego-based MBE in 2001.

UPS said it tested The UPS Store name in St. Louis and Seattle and found that the change increased overall UPS shipping volume by 70 percent over the previous year.

“Research shows us that the UPS shield is as powerful on the storefront as it is on our package cars,” said Rocky Romanella, vp of UPS Retail Services.

UPS said it has no plans to change the name of the 1000 Mail Boxes Etc. stores outside the United States.
