McDonald's Going Strong

McDonald's Corp. (Oak Brook, Ill.) reported that the company’s global comparable sales rose 8.2 percent in October. In the U.S., the fast-food chain’s comparable sales increased 5.3 percent for the month, driven by its McDonald's breakfast products; new menu items, such as Southern Style Chicken; and the continued popularity of its Monopoly game.

“McDonald's strong October sales show that we are delivering what customers count on from McDonald's – choice, variety and high-quality food and beverages at affordable prices,” says McDonald's ceo Jim Skinner.

In Europe, strong performances in the U.K., France and Russia and other markets drove comparable sales to increase 9.8 percent. Comparable sales were up 11.5 percent in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
