Minnesota Restaurant Boasts Retractable Roof

Marketing and design firm Shea Inc. (Minneapolis) recently partnered with Kaskaid Hospitality (Bloomington, Minn.) to launch Union Restaurant and Rooftop in Minnesota. The four-level building was previously an office space, and now features a lower-level club lounge, first-floor restaurant and bar and top-floor bar with a retractable roof.

According to a Shea, the main level bar and restaurant integrates a kitchen and dining room feel by showcasing the theater of the cooking along with custom raw steel built-in kitchen shelves to provide a separation, but visual openness between bar and dining room. Additional design elements include hand-crafted artisan lighting and a variety of seating.

The firm says the retractable roof offers a clear city view and is the first of its kind in the U.S.
