Nardelli Goes Home

Home Depot Inc. (Atlanta) named Robert Nardelli, 52, ceo. While Nardelli — former president and ceo of GE Power Systems — is said to have no retail experience, his Home Depot predecessor Arthur Blank described him as a “business superstar.” Blank, 58, remains with the company, sharing the chairman title with other co-founder Bernard Marcus.

Nardelli's first order of business might be heading up damage control. The home improvement chain is under fire – last week, the target of 'Inside Edition'report on in-store safety.

The televised investigation stems from a multitude of litigation. Home Depot has reportedly been sued, due to falling merchandise in its stores, 68 times within one 18-month period. Three deaths have occurred, allegedly the result of the high-traffic, warehouse-style environment.
