The Greater North Michigan Avenue Association (GNMAA, Chicago) has selected John Maxson as its president and ceo.
“The association represents a commercial area that is world-renowned as a destination of choice for its vibrant mix of high-end retail brands, commercial developments, business headquarters and residential living,” says Rick Roman, president of the Signature Room at the 95th and incoming GNMAA Chair. “I am excited about what John Maxson's leadership will mean to this area and to our association.”
Maxson most recently served as president of the Illinois Coalition, a not-for-profit public-private partnership with the mission to create and help tech entrepreneurs grow their companies and by assisting the state's universities and national labs. Prior to joining the coalition in 2002, he held diverse management positions for three decades at Commonwealth Edison (now Exelon Corp.), including 11 years based in Washington, D.C., as the corporation's government affairs manager.
The association Maxson now leads represents the 700 businesses within its geographical boundaries — Randolph Street to the south, North Avenue to the north, the North Branch of the Chicago River to the west, and Lake Shore Drive/Navy Pier to the east. The association promotes “the Magnificent Mile” as the world's premier shopping and hotel destination.
