StoreXpo 2004 Reflects Growth, Projects Future

StoreXpo 2004 experienced notable growth in both attendance and exhibitor participation as more than 6,300 professionals from virtually all areas of retail design came together at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York December 8-9. Co-locating with The P-O-P Show/New York, StoreXpo provided a broad spectrum of opportunity for all who touch the consumer's shopping experience – retailers, designers, marketers, P-O-P producers and manufacturers.

“In keeping with our theme of 'The Total Retail Experience,' a record crowd had the opportunity to interact with more than 66 manufacturers and experience 15 company showrooms in and around the city,” said Tedd Swormstedt, president of ST Media Group International. “We're pleased to have had the support of local showrooms, national organizations and leaders who are steering the industry toward a promising future.”

In addition to new products, StoreXpo offered attendees seminars on in-store marketing and merchandising. Keynote sessions were presented by Robert Michelson, CEO, Goliath Solutions; Richard Griffin, chief merchant, BP United States; and Michael Cape, VP of brand marketing, J.C. Penny Corporation, Inc. StoreXpo was sponsored by NADI (National Association of Display Industries).

At a special reception, VM+SD magazine bestowed its annual crystal apple award upon the 2004 New York Stores of the Year. This year's honorees were Bloomingdale's SoHo and Louis Vuitton Fifth Avenue.

Domestic and international trade journals were on hand to provide coverage of the event, including a segment produced by CBS News for its weekend edition of “CBS MarketWatch.” The segment highlighted trends in showcasing, signage and store design, and included perspective from VM+SD editor Steve Kaufman.

StoreXpo and The P-O-P Show/New York return to the Javits December 7-8, 2005. Once again, attendees will experience the newest trends in lighting, signage/graphics, P-O-P displays, fixtures, mannequins, surfacing materials, props/decoratives, wallcoverings/flooring and audio/video.

StoreXpo is produced by ST Media Group International, publisher of VM+SD magazine.
