Nordstrom to Enter Canadian Market

Luxury department store retailer Nordstrom (Seattle) is partnering with The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited to open stores in Canada, Women’s Wear Daily reports.

The retailer is said to be eyeing several sites, including former Sears units in Vancouver’s Pacific Centre, the Deerfoot Mall in Calgary and Ottawa’s Rideau Centre. The locations are expected to open under the Nordstrom banner in 2015 or 2016.

Nordstrom becomes the latest retailer to announce an expansion into Canada, following such brands as Target Corp. (opening next March), Ann Taylor (this fall) and J. Crew (which opened in the Yorkdale Mall).
