Peapod Adds Pick-up Locations to Online Grocery Service

Online-based grocery retailer Peapod (Skokie, Ill.) plans to open three locations in the Chicago area by the end of 2012, The Chicago Tribune reports.

The locations will enable customers to pick up their orders rather than waiting for home delivery. A pick-up site in Palatine is expected to open in early October and another in Schaumburg is planned for later in the month. A third location will open in Deerfield in early December.

The service, which was started in Evanston in 1989, became a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Ahold in 2001, according to The Tribune article.
