Nordstrom Lays Off 106 Customer Specialists

Nordstrom (Seattle) announced it has cut 106 customer-care jobs across the country. According to Retail Dive, these cuts are due to overstaffing as a result of investments that have caused fewer customers to have to reach out for support. These employees aided customers via email, online chat and by phone.

Affected employees will be paid through April 1 and are located in call centers throughout Seattle; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; as well as various work-from-home roles throughout the country.

Nordstrom also announced that Brent Beabout will join the company as executive vice president over its supply chain. Beabout formerly was e-commerce supply chain executive at Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) and Sam’s Club (Bentonville, Ark.).
