Office Depot Closing More Stores

Office Depot (Boca Raton, Fla.) announced that it will close 300 additional stores over the next three years. It is also accelerating its plans to shutter 65 more stores by the end of this year, which will bring the year’s total of closures up to 125. So far, the company has closed about 400 stores, which has provided $100 million in “benefits,” reports the Sun Sentinel.

Globally, the company plans on selling nearly all of its international businesses so that it can focus more intently on North America. The push to close stores, nationally and abroad, is an effort to improve profitability.

The company also announced plans to nationally debut a new store design next year.
