OfficeMax Inc. (Naperville, Ill.) will begin offering domestic FedEx express and ground shipping services in more than 900 stores this fall. Financial terms of the multiyear agreement were not disclosed, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Both companies say the FedEx services were introduced in specific Chicago and Memphis, Tenn., locations this month. All OfficeMax stores are expected to carry the services by the end of September.

The office-supply retailer reported total sales decreased 17 percent in the first quarter of 2009, ended March 28, 2009. Same-store sales dropped 12.7 percent, declining across all major product categories primarily due to weaker small business and consumer spending.
