A NEW ZAPVER HELLO World store recently opened in the Hello World Shopping Center in Kunming, China. With two floors designed by Yang Xuewan and the Aurora Design team, this marks the first flagship for the brand and the fourth location overall.
The restaurant, which aims to transform Thai cuisine in Kunming, serves as a dining space and a place for spiritual relaxation and a celebration of Thai culture. Its use of architecture and open interior design allows diners to enjoy their food while embracing nature.
The traditional Thai triangular roof structure is recreated with a half-meter-high glass curtain wall enclosing an outdoor space under the roof of gray micro cement. The entire space uses a mild sand-colored inorganic gray plaster wall, white curtains and yellowish light from the rattan lamps.
“People’s sense of happiness towards life is about finding ways to escape from the complexity and embrace simplicity and freedom,” Aurora Design said in the press release. The restaurant finds a balance in creating a simple yet textured spatial design. The space is decorated with long-lasting items such as thatched grass, wood, stones, gravel and vines.
