Planet Blue Pops Up on East Coast

Last week, West Coast women’s retailer Planet Blue (Santa Monica, Calif.) opened its first pop-up store in East Hampton, N.Y.

Planet Blue's Creative Director, Ling-Su Chinn, told Women’s Wear Daily the boho-chic collection was curated with the Hamptons' customer in mind. The 2800-square-foot space will remain open through September.

Planet Blue says it plans to open a permanent store in New York eventually, but would not specify when. New York is the company’s second largest market for e-commerce sales after Los Angeles. Upcoming openings for Planet Blue include a Dallas location in July, followed later this summer by El Segundo, Calif., Atlanta, Houston and Miami. Funding for Planet Blue’s expansion came from a 2014 investment by minority owner and investment firm Breakwater Investment Management (Los Angeles).
