Pure + FreeForm Creates Custom Panel for Issey Miyake
New York, NY— July 2016— Pure + FreeForm, an international bespoke metal studio, was tapped by Issey Miyake to design an ultra-custom panel system for a store at the Saks Fifth Avenue NYC flagship store. Aptly named ‘Issey,’ the panel was crafted to establish a visual relationship to the Issey Miyake brand, featuring a project-specific finish derived from a delicate gradated rice paper abstract.
Developed alongside TM/R Design for Issey Miyake, the finish offers a special originality that speaks to the brand, boasting alternating layers of oyster white, metallic white pearl and lacquer white. The panels feature an angular shape—purposefully “bent” by the designer—so that the gloss matte elegantly interplays light, dark, shadow and reflection. The result is unexpected depth, and tremendously subtle and delicate glamour.
Focused on creating purposeful surfaces and solutions, Pure + FreeForm’s expertly crafted panels place equal value on style and function, filling the gap between accessibility, beauty and relevance.
