After reporting $400 million in losses for 2013, RadioShack Corp. (Fort Worth, TX) is making some big changes. The most recent include opening two new concept stores in China and Malaysia, and one in Boston where the company was founded.
The China and Malaysia stores represent the second and third international concept stores for the brand, following the November 2013 debut of its international concept store in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. In the time since RadioShack introduced its first concept store in New York City in June 2013, the brand has opened 30 concept stores in the U.S., according to the company.
On Wednesday, RadioShack unveiled a redesign of its Boston Downtown Crossing store that ditches the familiar red, black and white color scheme for white walls and cabinets, stainless steel and chestnut wood accents, The Boston Globe reported. The store includes nautical map wallpaper, an activity table built to resemble a ship’s bow and sails hanging from the ceiling, according to The Globe. Six additional Boston stores will be remodeled in keeping with the new RadioShack concept being duplicated across the U.S.
