Rite Aid Corp. (Camp Hill, Pa.) plans to stock its shelves with discount groceries in some of its South Carolina stores as part of a test partnership with SuperValu Inc. (Eden Prairie, Minn.), according to the Associated Press.
Ten remodeled Rite Aid stores around Greenville, S.C. will add Save-A-Lot grocery products to its shelves and be renamed Save-A-Lot Food Stores/Rite Aid Pharmacy. Save-A-Lot is a unit of Supervalu.
Rite Aid, which will own and operate the stores, says it will cut back on its selection of health and beauty products to make room for the expanded grocery department.
