Robert Mosco, president of merchandising and ceo of Saks Inc. Department Store Group (Birmingham, Ala.), recently retired. He's 51. The outgoing executive was a key player in building the Saks Inc. central merchandising team and private label program for the company's regional department store units, which include Parisian, Carson Pirie Scott, Proffitt's and McRae's.
Although this departure (and other recent executive shifts at corporate merchandising) have sparked speculation that the Department Store Group divisions may be up for sale, Brad Martin, Saks Inc.'s chairman and ceo, has denied the possibility.
Mosco's former responsibilities are being assumed by James Coggin, who was promoted to vice chairman and ceo of the Department Store Group. Coggin also continues as president and coo of Saks Inc.
Other promotions within the company include Carol Williams, former executive vp of merchandising and corporate gmm for women's apparel, to executive vp of merchandising for Parisian.
