Rue21 Adds 2 Exec Positions

Rue21 (Warrendale, Pa.) has added and filled two new positions within its corporate executive team: chief operating officer and chief marketing officer.

Dirk Armstrong, formerly svp and director of the chain’s stores, has been promoted to fill the coo position. He has been with the company for almost five years and previously worked at companies including Ann Taylor (New York) and Gap (San Francisco).

Brett Trent has been named to the cmo position. He previously served as chief digital officer as well as svp of digital retail at rue21 and has also worked for Ascena Retail Group (Mahwah, N.J.), Charming Shoppes (Suffern, New York) and Goody’s (Houston), reports Chain Store Age.
