Sainsbury’s Launches In-Store Housewares Shop

Sainsbury’s (London) has debuted its first in-store mini-Habitat shop-in-shop in one of its London supermarkets, with plans to launch four more in other stores. The 2000-square-foot Habitat store introduces customers to a variety of Habitat products including pillows, bowls, trash cans and other home goods.

The in-store shop is delineated from the rest of the store with differentiated signage, black-and-white check tile and other black-and-white elements, including shelving and lighting, reports Retail Week.

According to The Guardian, the grocer made this change as a way to increasingly stand out from the competition and differientiate itself from discount stores.

The company acquired Home Retail Group (Milton Keynes, U.K.), which owns Habitat, six weeks ago.
