The literary phenomenon that is the Harry Potter stories will fill the flagship windows of Marshall Field's and Dayton's this holiday season. The two venerable retailers, part of Target Corporation's department store division, will spotlight the story of Harry Potter and the characters of his world as created by author J.K. Rowling. The stores in question are Field's State Street store in downtown Chicago and Dayton's Nicollet Avenue store On The Mall in downtown Minneapolis.
Beginning November 4, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone” will be the theme for long-held holiday traditions that will also include the three-story Great Tree at Marshall Field's State Street store (to be lit for the 80th year) and the Marshall Field's traditional holiday window presentations along State Street. The 38-year-old auditorium exhibit at Dayton's will also based on the Harry Potter literary phenomenon. Both Marshall Field's Great Tree and Dayton's auditorium display will be open to the public, as usual, during store hours.
“For more than 35 years, the holiday traditions of Dayton's and Marshall Fields have brought families together to celebrate the season,” noted Rob Gruen, executive vp, worldwide marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, which owns the licensing rights to Harry Potter. “We are pleased that Harry Potter – which has brought families together the world over to read these magical books – will be celebrated aspart of these time-honored events.”
