Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? In Parisian!

Saks Inc. (Birmingham, Ala.) has entered into an agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and the Cartoon Network to place themed shops in the children's department of 31 of the retailer's stores.

The Cartoon Network children's areas will carry Scooby-Doo and Powerpuff Girls licensed merchandise, including clothing and watches, from now until mid-July. The merchandise and timing were specifically selected to tie in with the Scooby-Doo and Powerpuff Girls feature film releases, scheduled for June 14 and July 3, 2002, respectively.

The Saks stores in the program will support the merchandise and promotion with talking display pieces, in-store character appearances, games, contests, prizes and various gifts-with-purchase, including comic books and posters.

Both Warner Bros. Consumer Products and the Cartoon Network are part of the vast AOL Time Warner media empire. Warner Bros. Consumer Products is a division of Warner Bros. (Burbank, Calif.). The Cartoon Network is part of Turner Broadcasting System (Atlanta), which is a subsidiary of AOL Time Warner.

The stores in question are 10 Parisians in metropolitan Atlanta and Huntsville, Ala.; nine Proffitt's stores in Tennessee and Virginia; 10 Younkers stores in Iowa and Nebraska; and two Herberger's in North Dakota and Minnesota.
