Skagen Opens Doors in U.S.

Accessories brand Skagen Designs (Albertslund, Denmark) is launching its first U.S. store in New York. Women’s Wear Daily notes that the opening marks a new chapter for the brand and coincides with this month’s appointment of chief creative officer Mariza Scotch, whose resume includes Kate Spade, Polo Ralph Lauren and Tod’s.

The 1048-square-foot Times Square store offers Skagen’s bags, jewelry and small leather goods. Interior features of the modern, minimalist space include natural gray wood flooring, pebble-shaped tables and a large central lighting fixture. The New York opening is designed to attract more U.S. customers to the brand as well as international visitors to Times Square. The company says the new store is the first of several in U.S. tourist destinations.
