Sprint Plans to Open 79 New Stores

Sprint (Overland Park, Kan.) announced that it will be opening 79 new stores throughout the state of Texas. The stores are expected to open over the course of this year. Currently, Sprint already operates 350 Sprint stores in the state.

The news comes in the aftermath of RadioShack (Fort Worth, Texas) filing for bankruptcy and announcing that it would be shuttering all of its stores, which included hundreds of in-store Sprint outposts. According to The Kansas City Star, Sprint plans to turn several hundred of the shared RadioShack locations into Sprint-owned stores.

Rival T-Mobile (Bellevue, Wash.) plans to open 2500 stores nationwide over the course of this year.
