The Harvey Nichols Group Ltd. (London), one of the world’s most fashionable department store chains, has named Stacey Cartwright as its new ceo.
Cartwright, a former evp at Burberry Group plc (London), will replace Joseph Wan, who is retiring at the end of March after 21 years on the job.
Women’s Wear Daily had reported that Cartwright was a front-runner for the job, since announcing in a Burberry press conference in April that she planned to take some time off and was looking to move on to “a consumer-facing chief executive role in 2014.”
Wan has headed the popularly named “Harvey Nicks” ever since it was acquired by Dickson Concepts (Hong Kong) in 1992. He has overseen its expansion in the U.K., Middle East and Asia. There are now 12 locations worldwide.
“[Cartwright’s] appointment underlines our commitment to raising the bar even higher in this sector, strengthening both our leadership team” and the service, products and experience at home and abroad, said Group chairman Dickson Poon.
