Coffee shop operator Starbucks Corp. (Seattle) is expanding its drink menu with plans to open its first tea-only store this fall under the Tazo brand.
The shop will sell more than 80 varieties of loose-leaf tea, as well as pastries, baked goods and packaged chocolates, and will be located near the company’s headquarters in Seattle’s University Village.
Starbucks recently acquired Bay Bread and earlier this year opened Evolution Fresh, a store selling flash-pasteurized juice. “We see Tazo as fitting into our emerging brands portfolio,” Holly Hart, a spokeswoman for Starbucks told Bloomberg. “We see it as a huge potential and a multi-channel opportunity.”
